Poor Brody

Many of you have followed the Twins and their escapades for over a year and a half now, and you know how much of my life revolves around them.  They have been my constant companions since my retirement, and I love them dearly.
Brody winning Best of Breed
Last Tuesday we had a bump removed from Brody's side.  I didn't mention it on the blog, because I thought that it would be similar to the bump that was removed earlier from his leg, which was a juvenile fatty tumor. However, our vet received the biopsy report yesterday.  Brody's latest bump was a cancerous Stage II mast cell tumor. Although our vet assured us that she removed it all, and placed him on drugs, I am still filled with sadness...we have discovered a second bump below his ear.  This bump will be checked out Monday.  We are hoping for the best outcome possible and that he will be filling our lives with love for many, many more years.  Until next time...

Congratulations, Rita!

Happy Wednesday!  Welcome to the Rita Wright Surprise Blog Hop! I follow Anne Marie Hile in the list of official hoppers! Rita of Rita's Creations, is one of the talented designers at Freshly Made Sketches.  If you know Rita, you know that she is one of the sweetest people you could ever meet.  Rita will be taking a leave of absence for a few months, as she is taking time off to have a beautiful baby girl, Laila!  In celebration of Rita, we are showering her with baby cards!  Because Rita is such a special friend, and because I wanted to make a very special card for her and Laila, I created with my heart and went vintage.  I hope you enjoy today's card and the hop we have created in honor of Rita!
The Stampin' Schach Design Tips: Sweet and Vintage
This finished card measures 5-1/4" x 5-1/4".
  • Sweet Baby! The retiring stamp, Bringing Baby, creates the perfect focal point for a vintage card. After very lightly tinting it with Blender Pens and inks, the image was zipped through the Big Shot with a Labels Framelit. A few Waterspots, courtesy of the French Foliage set, combined with speckles made with the Color Spritzer Tool, instantly ages the focal image.  The Itty Bitty Banners set, coupled with the new Bitty Banners Framelits, creates the perfect sentiment!
  • Banner for Baby! To personalize this card, a banner was created using Itty Bitty Banners Framelits and the Lovely Letters Alphabet set.  Stamped in Baja Breeze and hand-snipped, each letter was embellished with Dazzling Diamonds.  Mini-bows, crafted from Pool Party Baker's Twine, separate each flag.  Of course, no vintage card is complete without Basic Pearls.

Rita, I hope you enjoy your card.  It is winging its way to you! And how about you?  What do you think of Laila's vintage baby card? Won't you let me know in today's comment?  Your comments are so very important to me, and I do read each and every one of them.  Of course, I am always more than happy to answer any questions that you might have about the cards that I create or the techniques I use.  I am only an email away! Now skedaddle on over to the talented Cindy Hall, next on our blog hop list.  Until next time...

Falling for Fall with The Paper Players

It's Sunday and time to play with The Paper Players! This week the lovely and talented LeAnne has a sketch challenge for us...and what a fabulous sketch it is.  When I saw the central circle, I immediately thought of Stampin' Up!'s new Hostess Set, Four Seasons.  Because I wanted to use the warm tones of the Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper collection, I selected the Fall image.  I hope you enjoy today's card!
The Stampin' Schach Design Tips:  Warm and Comforting Fall Cards
  • "Comfort" colors!  The warm colors of Comfort Cafe are perfect for fall cards.  Soft Suede, Cajun Craze, and the new In-Color, Summer Starfruit, are a perfect trio for inking up the Fall Wreath image from Four Seasons.  And for a touch of contrast, Always Artichoke completes the picture!

  • Texture!  Nothing adds warmth to a card like texture.  A Cajun Craze Labels Framelit was zipped through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  The result is as warm and comforting as a favorite quilt!

  • The perfect sentiment! Who can resist the wisdom behind the Kindness Matters sentiment from the set of the same name?
  • A small touch of warm elegance! A fall card can always benefit from a simple touch of elegance.  An Always Artichoke Seam Binding double bow, created in seconds, is the perfect answer when a card needs a little extra!

The Twins are dog tired.  They have helped me price over 100 retiring and previously retired stamp sets. I have decided to really clean out my stamps, so I will be listing sets from previous years and from the mini catalogs, too.  I will be posting my list the first part of June.

What do you think of this stamp set? I can't wait to use the winter image! And I love Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper! I have a feeling I will be using more than one package of it throughout the upcoming year.  As always, your comments are so very important to me, and I do read each and every one! Of course, if you ever have any questions about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away! Until next time...
