Now at the time, I thought this was a fabulous card, but looking at it today, those leaves were overpowering. So I defoliated it, and used the leaves on today's updated card. Enjoy!
The Stampin' Schach Design Tips: Updating a Card
This finished card measures 5-1/2" wide x 4-1/4" long.
- Embedded embossing! The leaves from Gently Falling were adhered to Very Vanilla card stock and zipped through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.
- Rustic elegance! The Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border was punched from Cajun Craze card stock and cross-stitched with Linen Thread. A few Basic Pearls complete the look!
- Sentiment-al! Taking a cue from the card on page 79 of the Stampin' Up! catalog, where they stamped the sentiment directly onto a feather, I stamped the words Dream and Imagine from Loving Thoughts on two of the leaves. Their arrangement behind a Brushed Bronze Designer Button is reminiscent of the original card. This card will be winging its way to Brady, so I thought these words were quite appropriate!
(All Products Are Stampin' Up!) Stamp Sets: Gently Falling, Loving Thoughts; Inks: Early Espresso, More Mustard, Cajun Craze, Pool Party, Old Olive, Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede Stampin' Write Marker; Card Stock: Very Vanilla, More Mustard, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso Core'dinations; Tools: Big Shot, Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Herringbone Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Sanding Block, Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch, 1-3/8" Circle Punch, Paper Snips. Love your "updated" card! The original was pretty but I love the simplicity of your new card. And Fall....we really are starting to feel it here. Had a nice cooler day yesterday.
Your updated card is great. I finally caved in and purchased that set. I have to say I am glad I did.
You're going "green" on this one, Ann, and it's lovely! I love how you defoliated the card and the final look here is perfect! The embedded embossing is beautiful.

I love it! Good call on the leaves, the wood embossing folder is perfect for this!
A beautiful fall card Ann. I like the idea of recycling the leaves from the old card. They take on a whole different look with the stamping too.
Defoliating & recycling! Great look with the woodgrain background and leaves.
Love the word "defoliated" and I am still sort of chuckling! Love the card, I think less is more too in this case. But, oh my, what new great details we have on this one. I simply love the stitching and the pearls, button, and of course the wood embossing!

Great defoliation--great way to re-purpose those leaves. Great fall colors too. D
I love all the details, but I especially love the sentiments on the leaves!!
Very pretty Ann! I love how you re-purposed your leaves, AND stamped on them. Great idea.
Hi Ann! What a lovely fall card this is! I like your colors and pretty leaves. I have to repeat what some of the others have said, the sentiment word on the leaf is so clever! All the texture and pretty criss cross is gorgeous too. Brady should love this one!
I got a kick out of your hummer story. I would have cut my screen as well. I feed our hummers and get such a kick out of watching them. They are one of my new favorite birds! So happy he made it out okay. You are a sweetie to save him!
