From Me to You in Thirty Minutes, with Video Tutorial

Vintage in thirty minutes?  No way!  Well guess what...YES way!  Sure, I used a standard layout and one of my favorite techniques, but I really do like how it turned out.  Be sure to watch the video for some tips and tricks...but please ignore the barking dogs! And because this is a "From Me to You" card, I will provide detailed instructions. Enjoy!

The Stampin' Schach Design Tips:  Quick Vintage Monochromatic Card
The finished card measures 4-1/4" wide by 5-1/2" long.
  • Stamp the Floral image from the Fresh Vintage stamp set in VersaMark ink onto Naturals Ivory card stock.  Heat emboss using White Stampin' Emboss Powder.  Using a Stamping Sponge, apply Crumb Cake ink in a circular motion over the surface.  Add  Crumb Cake waterspots with the Waterspot stamp from the  French Foliage stamp set, curl the corner using the Round File from the Distressing Essentials Kit, and don't forget the Pearls!  Distress the edges with the Seven Sided Tool from the Cutter Kit.  Apply Soft Suede ink to the edges with a Sponge Dauber.  (The image mat measures 3" wide by 2-1/2" long.)

  • Dry emboss a piece of Naturals Ivory card stock which measures 2-11/16" wide by 4-11/16" long using the Finial Press Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and the Big Shot.  Apply Crumb Cake ink using a Brayer.  Distress the edges with the Seven Sided Tool, Soft Suede ink, and a Sponge Dauber.  Add instant speckles with a Color Spritzer Tool and Soft Suede Stampin' Write Marker.

  • Tint a section of Very Vanilla Seam Binding using a Brayer and Crumb Cake ink.  Add Crumb Cake Waterspots.  Make a bow, and position the tails as you like, holding the ruffles in place with Mini Glue Dots.
  • Use the Color Spritzer Tool and Soft Suede Stampin' Write Marker to add speckles to the card base.  Add a few waterspots, and daub the edges with Soft Suede ink.  Assemble as shown!
For more information on how this card was made, please watch the following video:

And there you have it! Quick and easy! I hope you enjoyed today's card.  Won't you please leave me a comment to let me know what you think?  And as always, if you ever have any questions about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away.  Until next time...

Utterly brilliant, thankyou so much, I am always so inspired when I've been here! So funny with the twins joining in, though, and you stayed so calm!

Hi Ann! What a treat to see you create one of your vintage style cards! I love the video and all your tips. I liked seeing how you turned the corners and broke them down and the twins saying "hi" of course. lol! This is a beautiful card. Thanks for sharing with us.

Ann, I forgot to add that I really enjoyed learning how to brayer dye the ribbon too. Very cool!

Ann, I loved your video. Also the dogs barking! That's how it goes at my house when I try to record a video :-) Quick question about the ribbon: What do you do to prevent the ink from rubbing off of it? (I know when we dye it, Even when try, it seems to bleed onto the paper later still). Does the brayering not give off as much ink maybe?

OMGosh! I LOVE IT! As soon as the page loaded, those were the first words out of my mouth! I've cased one of your cards before, with just a few minor changes to make it easier for a class, but I honestly would not change a thing on this card! AWESOME CARD! BTW, I also gave you credit for the card I cased! :)

I have a feeling that the camera does not do these vintage cards justice. You have to actually see them to fully appreciate them.

Love how you kept the video recording while you scolded the boxers. Sounded a lot like me when I have to make our boxers behave.

Stunning, gorgeous, fantastic, whatever else can come out of my thoughts and keyboard! I loooove this card! Just almost made me gasp when it came on the screen. All those fantastic details! I just can not say enough how much I really like this. Enough, idle chit chat before your head gets too big to fit through the doorway! I gotta go check out the video and listen to the kids in the background!

P.S. Can you tell I really loved this card?

First of all I love your vintage monochromatic card. No one does vintage as well as you do.I have the french Foliage stamp set and never thought to use the stamp that you did to make my cards look more vinatge. When I can stamp again I will be using that stamp a lot! I loved watching your video. Now I know how your roll your corners to look the way that you do. Thank you for sharing so much of what you do Ann. I had to chuckle when you said that you were giving the twins the eveil eye. It was fun to hear them.

There were no bad, barking twins in the background--they just wanted to have their say in the video too! I'm sure Muffy was anxious to help to distress.

Thanks for an awesome video. Loved your tips, especially about the seam binding.

Ann what a treat to see some of your techniques all in one video. I have one question though, how did you get the emboss resist to start out?

Loved the classical intro, the do do do do rhythm with the daubing, and your Tada fini. The twins added to the fun too you know!

Your card is totally awesome! Maybe at my age, I should say "grovy" instead! Seriously, it is quite beautiful. Had never seen anyone show how to roll the edges before, so a great big thank you for that! Also interested in the spritzer thing you used. Is that a Stamping Up item? Love your dogs and they just add to the video. Thanks so much!

This is gorgeous! I try to get my ribbons to sit like you do but never quite get it, maybe a 'tute' on that would be great? Mine seem to look flat'ish' ... Thanks Ann xxx
