Peace, Hope and Love for the Players

It's time to play with The Paper Players! For Challenge #60, the talented LeAnne Pugliese has prepared a clean and simple sketch for you! I decided to use the new Stitched Stockings stamp set from the Holiday Mini, along with the new Snow Burst Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I am always up for a challenge, so how about you? I can't wait to see what you create!

The Stampin' Schach Design Tips
  • Paper Piece! I stamped the Argyle stocking from Stitched Stockings twice...once in Cherry Cobbler and once in Marina Mist...so that I could piece the Marina Mist design accents onto the Cherry Cobbler Argyle stocking.  The Snowflake stocking was stamped twice in Marina Mist, and the heel and toe of one were snipped off and adhered to the Cherry Cobbler Dotted stocking.
  • Pearls! Basic Pearls were tinted red using a permanent marker. They were then used to accent the Marina Mist Snowflake stocking and the Marina Mist ribbon. I know this ribbon is retired, but if you are like me, sometimes you just need to use up retired supplies.  The new 1/2" Scalloped Dots Ribbon in Marina Mist is a current option.
  • Cuteness factor!  Mini Clothespins, with Baker's Twine bows,  "attach" the stocking to the panel. The words "PEACE", "HOPE" and "LOVE" were selectively inked on the sentiment from the Gifts of Christmas stamp set.  I used a Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Write Marker.  They were then punched out with the Jewelry Tag Punch and tucked into the stockings.

You may be wondering why I selected Cherry Cobbler and Marina Mist for my stocking colors.  Originally I was going to use one of the plaid patterns from the Frostwood Lodge Designer Series Paper collection, which contained these two colors.  However, after I completed the stockings, I decided that the plaid looked too busy.  So I switched and decided to go with embossed card stock.

I also had the fabulous idea of creating a mantle scene, but I decided that I was already pushing the "clean and simple" idea.  However, one idea that did come to mind...after the card was completed...was that it would be cute to transform the stocking panel into a gift card holder.

And when you opened it up, it would contain a little pocket where you could tuck away cash or a gift card.  Of course, I would want this adhered to the front of the original card...a card on a card!

Your comments are important to me, so please leave me a comment and let me know if you enjoyed today's card.  And if you have any questions about the cards that I create or the techniques that I use, I am only an email away!  Until next time...

Love it!!!! Makes me all warm and fuzzy (like they are) thinking about this and all the rich details! I love all the details from the red pearls to the baker's twin which looks like candy cane stripes. Love how you pieced the parts. I could see this with a mantle but I like it the way it is with the clothes pins and the ribbon etc. Just perfect the way it is! But, I do like the idea of the pocket for a gift card etc. Then, the little tags just added the extra little bit of joy. Plus, you have that rich embossed background. Do you want me to get going?
